Lucien Caviezel is not only an ADVANCE R&D Team test pilot, but has recently been attracting attention withsome extreme Climb&Fly exploits: Jungfrau North Wall, Lauteraarhorn overflight or the Eiger. Mostly these involve landing near the foot of the wall, climbing up then taking off from the summits. Who could ask for more?

DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST FLIGHT?
It was a bit turbulent and I was incredibly worried. I thought “this flying is not for me”. Fortunately I made a second flight.
WHAT MOMENTS MAKE FLYING WORTHWHILE?
There are plenty of them. But the top one by far is certainly the flight from the Jungfrau, after we had climbed a route up the north wall.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON A DAY THAT IS NOT FLYABLE?
My favourite thing is rock climbing or mountaineering. But sometimes I spend all day checking my accounts.
MOST IMPORTANT PARAGLIDING SUCCESSES?
From my personal point of view it’s to still be enjoying flying after ten years, and no serious injury.
WHY DO YOU FLY FOR ADVANCE?
I work for ADVANCE in the R&D team anyway, but from the beginning the products have impressed me: simple, they work, and provide a lot of fun.

Pizza

Never believe that you have learned everything. Otherwise you will lose your respect and that is dangerous.
