The THETA ULS takes you out into undisturbed nature, far away from crowded launch sites. With minimal weight, maximum feel-good factor and tangible performance, you will be inspired to set out on new adventures, and be motivated to expand your skills. The new performance intermediate is based on the ultra-light construction of the OMEGA ULS.
The new ultra-lightweight construction developed for the OMEGA ULS is now available to a larger group of pilots for the first time. The combination of the lightest materials and an extremely weight-optimised internal structure means that the THETA ULS is available from 3.1 kg.
The THETA ULS combines two worlds by bringing together the performance of the IOTA DLS with the feel-good factor of the EPSILON DLS. As an ultra-light mid-B wing, it is an all-rounder for a wide range of pilots.
The right wing for pilots with many interests who like to explore new areas. The THETA ULS encourages your spirit of discovery and promises you freedom and independence on your flying adventures: whether for vol-biv, hike-to-fly tours or when travelling.
The heart of the THETA ULS is the filigree internal structure, which was first developed for the OMEGA ULS. Benefitting from the experience of countless competitions, we have perfected maximum possible rib cut-outs (micro cross-ports) as well as the complex inner structure we call Sliced Diagonals. ULS also uses only the lightest materials including "Nitinol-Rods".
The new-generation profile has an optimised pressure distribution across the wing chord, for balanced pitch behaviour. This delivers high performance with reduced canopy tensioning, resulting in pleasant feedback by optimally absorbing turbulence. In addition, lift distribution, wingtip to wingtip, is more centred, with less lift at the wing tips and less tendency for the pilot to get pushed off course. This results in smoother, more comfortable flight behaviour.
Active flying using the C line level allows you to exploit the full performance potential of the THETA ULS. Modern pitch control by C-handles helps you do this. Control inputs are transmitted directly from C- to B-level so that the profile does not deform. This allows you to best adjust your angle of attack without sacrificing performance.
The THETA ULS line set is extremely length-stable and retains above-average tensile strength, even after many flights. Unsheathed Pro Dry lines are colour-coded and 60% more water-repellent than previous-generation lines.

The Seamless Weight Ranges of the THETA ULS make a clear transition from one wing size to the next, so that any pilot suits only one ideal take-off weight range. In this way, the THETA ULS guarantees the optimum balance of useful airspeed and climb performance in all flying conditions.

If you have several years of flying experience, fly regularly (40 flying hours or more per year) and already have thermal flying experience, the mid-B THETA ULS is perfect for you. If you have also acquired an active flying style, can recognise possible canopy deformations at their outset and know how to react appropriately, you can fully exploit the high performance potential of the THETA ULS. Naturally you should be familiar with the usual fast descent techniques for an EN B glider.
As an adventure tourer, the THETA ULS is perfect for demanding projects far from the crowds. This ultra-light Mid B wing is perfect for hike-to-fly excursions, as well as for adventure-seekers on days-long vol-biv projects in unfamiliar terrain. Its easy take-off and landing behaviour is ideal for difficult take-offs or challenging landings in unknown places. Thanks to the THETA ULS's good-natured flight behaviour and pleasant flight feeling, you can concentrate on the essentials during your exploits while achieving the performance level of a high-B wing. Due to its low weight and packing volume, the THETA ULS is also very convenient for travel.
Hike-to-fly concentrates on (cross-country) flying which follows an ascent on foot. This contrasts with Hike & Fly or Climb & Fly, where the focus is on the ascent, and the paraglider used as a descent aid.
Instead of using the speed bar to control canopy pitch during accelerated flight, with heading change by weight shift only, you can also use the C-risers directly on the THETA ULS. The advantage is more direct handling. C-riser control input is proportionally transferred to the B-level via a pitch control line. Please note that efficient and intuitive control via C-risers requires some practice and experience. There is a risk of stalling if you pull too deeply and abruptly!
Thanks to its ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT STRUCTURE, the THETA ULS is not only an ultralight wing, unlike the IOTA DLS, but is also less demanding to fly as a mid-B wing in terms of pilot requirements. In this respect, it is located between the EPSILON DLS and the IOTA DLS. It combines the performance of the IOTA DLS with the feel-good factor of the EPSILON DLS. The THETA ULS therefore covers the entire range of the EN B segment.
By reducing the wing area of sizes 21 and 23, we have achieved optimum wing loadings for these lower weight ranges. This means that even light pilots from 60 kg take-off weight can choose their optimum weight range. (The smallest size is certified from 55 kg.) Seamless weight ranges also means a seamless transition between sizes for every body weight. The THETA ULS reacts very tolerantly to different payloads. This is not the case with all wings. Gliders often perform better when they are flown in the upper weight range. We can therefore recommend the THETA ULS over the entire ideal weight range according to the weight table.
