About

Godfrey is one of the best pilots in Australia, is the former FAI Open Distance World Record Holder (335kms 1998), held multiple Australian Open Distance records (1996-2013) and runs a flying school. He developed and owns the well-known Mount Borah site in Manilla (NSW). For many years he has been involved in the development of new ADVANCE products and distributes these in Australia.

Do you remember your first flight?

Oh yes ! The first small flight down the training slope at Puchberg am Schneeberg (Austria) was the most awesome feeling ever. It was like a smooth magic carpet ride, and of course much too short !

What moments make flying worthwhile?

Flying over new spectacular terrain, high or low, and sharing the experience with flying friends – both types, human and feathered!

Manilla (AUS), Fiesch (CH), Shumen (BG)

What are you doing on a day that is not flyable?

Fly UL, MTB ride and study the weather forecast to see when its flyable again !

Most important paragliding successes?

The Open Distance FAI World Record in 1998 (335kms). Organising/running the FAI World Championships in 2007 at my place (Manilla). Teaching over 2000 people to fly over the past 30 years.

Why do you fly for ADVANCE?

Advance has been my flying family for over 35 years. The team consistently produces the best quality all round products in each category.

What is your favourite food?

My mums authentic Weiner Schnitzel with kartoffel salat of course !

What is your motto in life?

Choose a job you love and you never have to work a day in your life.
