About

Kari won the 1999 Paragliding World Cup as an ADVANCE team pilot and became European Champion in 2000. For many years Kari has helped shape ADVANCE paragliders and harnesses as a test pilot and leader of the ADVANCE development team. His experience still finds its way into our products today. He also runs the Chill Out Paragliding school in Interlaken/Switzerland..

DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST FLIGHT?

I had to fly in front of my older brother, right from the top! He had a brand new wing and pushed his old glider into my hands - he did not have the patience to go to the practice slope with me. Kindly, I was allowed to take off first.

YOUR THREE TOP FLYING AREAS?

I’ve been lucky enough to be able to paraglide all over the world. By far the most beautiful place is at home in Interlaken, high above Lake Thun with a view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau - where the spirit of adventure has lived long before my paragliding days.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON A DAY THAT IS NOT FLYABLE?

Hydrofoil-Kitesurfing & Skiing, and spending as much time as possible with my family.

MOST IMPORTANT PARAGLIDING SUCCESSES?

To this day flying accident free following my motto "seek positive experiences".

WHY DO YOU FLY FOR ADVANCE?

As co-owner and part of the management team, I was responsible for the ADVANCE development team for over 25 years. In this position I was able to contribute my part to what the company is today. According to my philosophy "to stop at the personal peak in order to experience and learn new ways", today I only have a small consulting mandate in the company and I myself am very curious to see how the path of the Bernese Oberland paragliding company will continue.
